Clean Eating Challenge Announcements
The Whole30/Clean Eating Challenge will wrap up on Wednesday, February 8. We’re planning a post-challenge potluck party at the box at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 11th to announce winners, pass out prizes, and chow on some good food. All participants are asked to contribute $20 or whatever you’re able toward prizes sometime this week.
Hopefully everyone’s going strong, helping each other with motivation and clean eating ideas. And if you’ve fallen off the wagon, there’s still time to jump back on! “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.” (Jim Rohn)
Whole30 – Clean Eating Challenge

It’s about to get real, folks.
Beginning this Monday, January 9, we’ll embark on a 30-day clean eating challenge, as prescribed by the seriously awesome people at Whole9.
What: Whole30
When: January 9 – February 7
Workouts: You’ll need to complete three challenge workouts January 9-11 (or some point during that week). These workouts will be retested on February 6-8. You must use the same weight/progressions on both the initial and retest workouts for comparison purposes.
Weigh-in: Get your weight and measurements taken by a coach January 9-11, earlier the better.
Whole9′s recommendations are based on a paleo diet, with emphasis on health, not history. Their research led to the creation of the Whole30 program, designed to ”help you restore a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive tract, calm systemic inflammation and put an end to unhealthy cravings, habits, and relationships with food.”
To achieve this nutritional reset, this program requires STRICT adherence. Don’t agree to this challenge on autopilot – take some time to mentally dedicate these 30 days to strictly clean foods. Don’t start on day 1 allowing for the eventuality of a special occasion, a nibble of sugar, a bite of bread, or a “slip”. As Whole9 says, unless you trip on the sidewalk and your face lands in a box of donuts, there is no such thing as a “slip”. It’s only 30 days. Fighting cancer is hard, overcoming a meth addiction is hard. Drinking your coffee black for 30 days is. not. hard.
Your assignments before Monday, in order:
1. Read this
2. Then read this
3. Clean out your pantry. (And your desk drawers. And the chocolate stash in your medicine cabinet. You know who you are.)
4. Grocery shop for W30 food
5. Bookmark W30 recipes for the coming month
6. Prepare a list of potential stumbling blocks and come up with a plan to stay on track.
If you need help with any of the above, let a trainer know, except for numbers 1 & 2…they have tutors for that. More details to follow, keep yer eyes peeled.
